Major Roadmap

Neuroscience Major Roadmap

As a courtesy to aid in course planning, we have provided a sample road map for a prospective neuroscience major that includes major core and elective requirements, required courses in other sciences, and General Education requirements. This road map assumes that a student begins at UVA as a first year with no AP or transfer credit, is not an Echols Scholar, and will take a foreign language series consisting of two 4-credit Elementary level courses (1010, 1020) and two 3-credit Intermediate level courses (2010, 2020) typical of the most commonly-taught languages at the College. Please note that this is a sample course schedule; students must create an individualized course plan reflecting their level of academic preparation, General Education pathway, and specific academic/professional interests. All responsibility for accurate course planning falls soley on the student.

* indicates course satisfies Chemical, Mathematical, and Physical Universe Discipline requirement

** indicates course satisfies 1st Quantification, Computation, and Data Analysis Literacies requirement

*** indicates course satisfies Living Systems Discipline requirement

† indicates course satisfies 2nd Quantification, Computation, and Data Analysis Literacies requirement

‡ indicates course is recommended but not required in this sample road map, and would count as a College of Arts and Sciences elective
